Primary industries, are one of the main economic factors in these regions. It's very important to the future of Queensland and everybody part of it.
The biggest opportunity we see in north west Queensland is the region's ability to flood mitigate. Cropping will bring a diversification in the region, which will allow businesses to get back on their feet quicker and increase resilience in this economy.
The North West has the potential to increase GDP in this region by over $1 billion and create thousands of jobs with this new emerging industry, both irrigated and broadacre cropping.
The way that we can facilitate that is by creating and building enabling infrastructure, to help private enterprise get the confidence to invest, bring workers and people into the area.
This is a very, very important and it's a big step towards something that Prosper is trying to achieve.
I was inspired to be a part of Prosper because I felt like this new emerging industry needed a voice and, you know, to be part of the conversation with the Queensland Government.
